Trierer X-Duathlon: Off road
Challenging off road duathlon just up the road in Trier. I did this race last year, along with a few others from the group. I did the long course and it was fairly brutal. The short course would be a great race for beginning duathletes or more seasoned racers looking for something under 2hrs. I'm planning on doing it again this year and they usually run a few "test rides" on the course 2-4 weeks ahead of time. Here's the link: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

How is the run. I see that it is 2.5x2. Is it off road? If so is it a straight run or does it have obstacles?

The run is not that challenging. You run on a combination of cinder track, pavement, non-technical trail and a set of stairs. It's 2.5k/lap, so just one lap before and after the ride...and two for the long course. As for the ride, it's entirely fire road. It's got a significant amount of climbing/descending each lap. The short course does 2 laps and the long does 4. It's doable with both mountain and cross bikes. I may take both this year. Hope this helps. I will post when they are doing pre-rides.
