Re: CTF Wissembourg 29 Sep 13
i emailed the organizer 2 wks ago and he said that there is pretty much no singletrack on this CTF due to the french rules regarding no bikes on trails less than 2 meters, which i guess are enforced for this CTF.

Well that sucks!!! Last year there was some awesome Single Track which made for an unforgetable day on the Bike. This ctf is well known for the awesome trails. I have been told by many folks that if you only do one ctf all year, this is the one to do. Since when did the French adopt the 2m rule?

I think this may work. Is this a tour or a race? What's a ctf? Thanks. Dozer

ctf stands for country touren fahrt. It is a ride at your own pace bike tour. The routes are marked. Show up between the set hours get your number and go have fun.

Steve, i heard the same thing that this CTF rocks. But this is what the organizer wrote me:
We have some parts but not in single trail trails within 2 meters banned in France but two good steep descents.
The registration fee is 5 € uros per person
Circuits 19km 350m, 850m and 37km 57km with 1580m of altitude refueling
so, i guess its either going to be awesome with great trails if you're right Steve, or its going to suck and just be a bunch of forest roads if they truly have adopted the 2m rule.
i may be up for seeing how it goes regardless if its not raining like stink.

Re: CTF Wissembourg 29 Sep 13
Well after yesterday's Ride I feel like a sack of potatoes!!! The course was the same as last year with a few minor changes consisting primarily of double track that was more or less Single Track. The Double Track left you no choice but to follow the track of previous riders or run the risk of getting caught up in a combination of some nasty rocks, roots, sand, or mud. But, the Double Track is not what you'll walk away remembering from this Ride. The climbs are endless, the long descents do not give sufficient recovery time before the next climb. In my opinion this is a full suspension ride that can handle the technical climbs and descends well. All and all, I had a good day on the bike knocking 30 minutes off of my time from last year but it was brutal...
