4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
Clear your calendars and get ready for some single track awesomeness.
We will be meeting @ 0830 in Maikammer near Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. The green arrow on the map. Grid 49.308036,8.114796. We will shuttle from Maikammer to the start point at the top of Kalmit. The ride is around 33km long with around 1000 verticle meters. This is not a bike path ride. This years trail has something for everyone. long fire road climbs, techy singletrack climbs, great view if the surounding country side and castles, and some of the finest singletrack descents around. Be warned, this usually turns into an all day event. Beers in the parking lot afterwards.

Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
It is a group ride. We will wait at the top of climbs and at the bottom and at intersections. We don't want to lose anybody. It all about getting out and having a good time.Odd Job wrote:Got anymore info on it?
Haven't worked out this years route yet. I should have a gps download a few days before the ride. I want to change it up a little from last year and make the climbs a little less brutal and add a few new sections of trail. The trails there are nice single track. lots of roots rocks and drops. You could ride it on a ridged, but a fully would be much more comfortable.
I will keep y'all up to date. We usually have a good turn out for this ride.
Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
Thanks, I would like to have a look at route when you get a chance. My ten year old son always likes a good ride, and we would be coming in from Hochspeyer through the trails, so I would just want to check my routes to yours for the best way in and maybe if we are lucky a way back we have not done before.
Thanks for the update.

Veterans Day Ride Preview!
All,
Steve (the theDude76) treated me to a preview of the Veterans Day ride. Believe me, it's incredible. The single-track was nice and challenging; the ascents were nice and gradual fire roads for some part while other sections again were single track. The scenery was absolutely fantastic. I'll post up the .gps/Garmin tracks for your download enjoyment. I recommend this incredible event to anyone on the forum interested in having some mtb bliss!

Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
A good trail/all mtn bike would be most fun. Lots of bumps, rocks, and roots. Plenty of chances for a little air time.Taz77 wrote:Awesome. What is the best flavor of bike to bring?
I guess as much squish as possible but still climb well.
Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
If anyone has a small table top gas grill that we could use after the ride to cook up some bratwurst, that would be great.
Also, we are shuttling from the lower parking lot to the top. If you are joining us and have a truck, van, or any vehicle that can haul many bikes or people at once that would be a great help.
Drop me a line if you can help.

Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
I have a camping stove and grill. I just need to see if the BX has any camping gas cans left. It's a US model Coleman. Used it on many biking trips!
I don't have a shuttle vehicle though.

Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
The forecast for Monday is looking good, and going by the FB page and the forum we should have over 15 riders there. Going to be a great ride.
Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
I think I might have missed something but does this mean you are only doing shuttle runs or is there still a full ride going on? Please spell this one out for the slow guythedude76 wrote:If anyone has a small table top gas grill that we could use after the ride to cook up some bratwurst, that would be great.

Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
its a normal ride. we are just shuttling up one time from the bottom parking lot. We will be ending the ride in the bottom parking lot. There is enough climbing already, we do not need to start it off with that beast of a climb
Re: 4th Annual Veterans Day MTB Ride!
Just found out we lost the main shuttle vehicle due to health reasons. I really need some help now. If you have van or truck that can haul a few bikes at once and you are willing to use it please drop me a line. Also if you have extra racks for you car that you could mount and maybe shuttle a few folks up that would also be awesome. I am trying to work something out to make it go as smooth as possible. We are only shuttling on time from the bottom lot to the top. that means people will still be clean and the bikes too. Kinda.
Thanks.
Thanks.
