I've been meaning to ride this trail for a while. Now I can ride it with a group. I'm certainly in unless something crazy comes up. Very Happy

This trail is a blast. I have plans in Sweden over the holiday. If I don't go I'll join the ride, and try to stay on my bike this time.

I hope to join this ride, but it may be a long drive for me. It is on my calendar.

Take the train. That's my plan.
It allows for multiple beers afterwards... and then some on train ride home too!!

We would all funnel into the K'Lautern Hbf from the KMCC footprint, so all we'd need to coordinate is the time. I will ride the rail, too.

Fill the Train!!

Let's do it! We can be the loud, obnoxous ones on the train instead of the German teenagers.

The S2 line leaves KL hbf at 7:58 from platform 10 and gets to Neustadt at 8:25, the group will just have to be willing to wait five minutes or so for us, which I am sure they would.
I will be getting to the KL hbf via the12909 fromKusel which I catch in my village at 7:09, and which stops at Lstuhl platform 3 at 7:23.
Because it is before 9 a.m. on a weekday, we will have to buy children's tickets for the bikes, which should be about5 euros from the hbf, a little more for those traveling from Lstuhl or other outskirts.
I'll take a look at what specials are being offered if there are a few of y'all going in on it together, but you'll unfortunately have to count me out on that group as I have a permanent regional transit pass, so I don't pay anything but the bike fee.
The bike fee will not apply to the ride home.
Does that help?

Tomorrow I'll post a timetable for the 12909 which runs through Obermohr, steinwenden, ramstein, Landstuhl, kindsbach, and vogleweh on the way to KL hbf.
This seems the logical choice for a good many of us who live I these villages. I'll also check on group tickets etc. for y'all.

This is sounding prosperous. With any luck we can bring a big back pack with dry warm clothes and leave them in a car of someone who is driving. If memory serves, it was wicked cold two years ago during this ride.

Time table for the 12909 (the line leading into KL HBF through landstuhl, vogelweh etc.)

Station name--departure time--platform(if no platform listed, then there is only one platform at that station)
Rammelsbach--06:42
Altenglan--06:46--5
Theisbergstegen--06:51
Eisenbach-Matzenbach--06:55
Rehweiler--06:58
Glan-Münchweiler--07:02--1
Niedermohr--07:06
Obermohr--07:09
Steinwenden--ab 07:12
Miesenbach--07:15
Ramstein--07:18--1
Landstuhl--07:25--3
Kindsbach--07:30--41
Einsiedlerhof--07:34--2
Vogelweh--07:38
Kaiserslautern Hbf--07:44--1

Unfortunately, before 9 a.m. on a weekday, there is no group discount you guys would qualify for.
The standard fare should be around 8-10 euros per person, and five for the bike, with another 8-10 for the trip back to KL. You might be able to do it cheaper driving, but then that's not the green option... AND not as much beer for afterward... Heck, the half-sauced ride home will be half of the day's fun itself!

I'm gonna try and make this one. I dropped off the radar because I didn't have transportation. Now that has been remedied. If anyone needs a ride from the Ramstein area, let me know. I have room for one extra bike and 2 extra bodies.

He did leave their imprint in the dirt about 10 meters back!
"What happened?"
"You crashed, dude."
"I'm fine."
"No, you're not-"
"Yeah, I'm getting up. I'm fine."
"If you're fine, tell me where you parked your truck."

Did the route recon today with Daniel B. The climbs are still just as brutal as last year and the downhills are still freakin awesome. Hopefully the trail will be dry by veterans day.
