Aww, shoot. After all the posts in the club meeting thread for no-shows, I didn't think anyone would show up for the ride today, so I ran some errands and went home. I'll be at 'Woog on Thursday for sure. Sorry 'bout that.

I'll be out there depending on vehicle and work situation. I got called back to work off furlough.
Re: Weekly Landstuhl Castle No drop MTB Ride, Tuesdays @1800
I'm not going to be able to ride tonight. Way too many fires erupted today while I was at work (my side business).

Happy time-change weekend, y'all! Who's down for a Tuesday Landstuhl ride? Don't expect to fly through the climbs without waiting for me to get my ass to the top. I've been riding, but am still kinda turning blue when the going gets steep. Ah, well- it's all good fun.

Roger...
I will not be out there today. I just got back from a short vacation and got back home after 0100, I'm going to be pedaling in my dreams tonight!

Those riding at LRMC, be cautious around the Bismarkturm. There is glass everywhere. If I have some spare time this weekend I am going up there to clean it. Someone has been drinking beer and shattering the glass on the stones and down the steps leading back into the trail. Assholes...
Re: Weekly Landstuhl Castle No drop MTB Ride, Tuesdays @1800
If anybody wants to do a Tuesday ride, or ride this loop on another day after work, let me know. I am riding pretty slow right now, so put on your heaviest winter tires so I can keep up.
Weather is still spotty, but we've had a few real nice days and have more to come. Ice on the hospital side of the loop is a disqualifier, but that hasn't been a problem really. We can meet at the usual castle spot, or at the LRMC gate for a double-loop of the fun side of the trail.

Hrm... How much ice is there? I might want to check that out. I still have my spikes and they haven't seen a trail in over a year.
I might be interested in riding. What time do you get out there? I am commuting from work a lot but I can bring my MTB and have my wife drop me off then finish riding home.

Brady,
No ice at all. Just making a disclaimer that this trail is no good when iced because of all the rock and off-camber parts. As long as it ain't snowing and blowing, the trail should be good. I'm getting a start with commuting up the fire road, and as the days get longer I hope to find more continuous sections for an off-road commute. I pop down the trail at the hospital gate in the afternoon. I can roll by 1700 at the earliest, or 1730 from the castle. I think you and I could ride trail then commute home since we're neighbors. What time are you getting out of work these days?

Re: Weekly Landstuhl Castle No drop MTB Ride, Tuesdays @1800
I get out about 1600. It can vary depending on my wife's appointments. We are narrowing down to one vehicle.
Yeah, we could ride the rest of the way home after the ride. From Ramstein AB. I found a nearly 80% dirt trek to Bruchmühlbach. Last fall I had my wife drop me off at LRMC a couple of times then I rode back home on the path. Makes for a great ride. I would just do the fun part of the loop around LRMC starting at Gate 3.
There is a way to get from LRMC to Bruchmühlbach in the woods. You come out at the Fritz Hütte at the top of the hill behind the village.

I've done that route from the Fritz Klaus Hütte up to Brietenwald. It is a lot more peaceful than riding with the cars. I need to time myself to use that as a commute... maybe Saturday.
I do like dropping in from the gate, because you can do the best part of the loop and then do the descent again to hit the valley floor and ride back west toward home.

Re: Weekly Landstuhl Castle No drop MTB Ride, Tuesdays @1800
I have an appointment tomorrow at 1730 to 1630. I want to ride but I cannot cancel my appointment. I could do a quick lap around LRMC from gate 3 tomorrow after my appointment. After this week I am going to move this appointment to another day, it's a weekly wellness benefit I have with my insurance plan (it's free, might as well use it!).
Re: Weekly Landstuhl Castle No drop MTB Ride, Tuesdays @1800
I drove in today after last night's snowfall. The back side gets sketchy with ice! I will plan for next Tuesday.

Re: Weekly Landstuhl Castle No drop MTB Ride, Tuesdays @1800
I haven't rode there all year. Due to car issues (no bike rack), I been riding in my village which has a hidden gem of a trail if you like DH.
I get car stuff sorted out soon, then maybe hit up the Landstuhl/hospital trails. It is some of the best single track around here IMHO (i.e. has a good amount of tech in it).
