Minutes: 22 Feb 2012 Meeting
We had a nice showing for the meeting on the 22nd. Hopefully the trend continues as the weather warms. There was some talk of adding a pre-ride to the next meeting...and I, for one, am all for it.
Attendees: Jonesy, spookyload, Bigwheels, Velo-doc, BrianLask(sorry don't know your wife's handle), Sharpebike&Son.
1. Wool jerseys making a trip around the world, on their way (Update...they made it!)
2. Race: Looking to put on one race this year. Group thinks that the most high-yield setup is to do it on the weekend of the Rodenbach race and plan for a road race on ROB. Sharpbike said that he is willing to get things rolling with the course and command at ROB. Looks like we will need 7-10 personnel to run the race, but max participation is encouraged since this will probably be our biggest event promotion of the year.
3. No new sponsors planned for addition to jersey this year. Plan to engage sponsors this summer and add them to the 2012-2013 jersey order.
4. Soldier ride: Velo-Doc offered to contact the organizers and offer our support for this year's ride. Last year was a great event, but the course and marshalling could definitely use some improvement. This is another great venue to showcase our jersey and help promote cycling in the community.
5. Kids bike rodeo: Bigwheels offered to stop in at the Ramstein Community Center and look into the possibility of putting on a rodeo.
6. Fund raisers: Multiple ideas were thrown around, including selling food or other items at the ROSC Bazaar or getting sponsorship for some kind of unique cycling event that the club would participate in. No solid plans made.
7. Community Bank account: Need to get names on the account switched to the current officers.
8. Team photographer: BrianLask knows a professional photographer who is interested in a team deal. He would cover our events and offer discounts to the club. More to follow.
Those are the main topics covered. As usual, lots of other banter as well as food and drink consumed. Weather is looking up, so I expect the positive momentum to continue!
See you at the next meeting.
