Trail 4 on Saturday- anyone interested?
I had such a fun time at Hockspeyer on Friday, I am going to go back and catch the whole thing this Saturday. I believe it is 63 km, but it is an easy trail with lots of gravel roads and double track climbs. Some fun singletrack downhills. I am thinking it is going to be around 3.5 hours of riding at an easy pace. Ride starts at the Hockspeyer train station which is just east of Panzer Kaserne. Thinking 0800 start will get us home early and not drag me out of bed too early. Post up if you are interested.
BTW...I looking to get a long ride in before the marathon in May. This seems like a great tune up ride.

I've done trail 4 before, and 3.5 hours ain't takin' it easy on that trail. I don't remember our time last year when we did it, especially if you add in a brat and beer stop as we did... but there are some pretty good climbs involved...
Not trying to burst any bubbles, just recommend you maybe plan a little more time.

Hmm...looking at it, you might be right. I did the first half (Hochspeyer - Waldleiningen - Hochspeyer) in two hours and it looks like the second piece may have a little less paved road but a bit less climbing. Maybe a 4.5 is more realistic. Longer if we stop for grub in Waldleiningen before the last big push. I will likely cut out the out and back that goes to Johannaskreutz from the extended loop.

I just realized the TT is Saturday morning. Want to start later?
Re: Trail 4 on Saturday- anyone interested?
Don't really want to start later because I have an obligation at work in the afternoon. Need to be cleaned up and ready to go by 2:00.

So I have myself, Steve, Bill, and Daniel. Anyone else? We are planning a LSD ride (long slow distance). Weather is going to be amazing.

Great ride all. A little suffering let's you know you are really Alive! Thanks all for joining. For those that missed, the full loop trail 4 has some great single track descents. Will be a little sore tomorrow, but I know it will be worth it in two weeks!
All of the chain talk made me check mine when I got home. Threw the checker on and what do you know...I need a new chain too.
