You all have heard the story. I need to replace that front wheel. Let me know what you got.

I like the six-niner idea.

I have a 29er rim or two lying around that I could maybe build into a front wheel for you if the hub and spokes are still OK.

I know my hub is good, but I am not sure about the spokes. I did not have any snap, maybe they streched a little.

Toast. I would spend the extra $20 and get new spokes.

Linear pull spokes are gonna cost more than $20. Those are high-tension spokes, they are probably fine to use as long as they fit the depth of the ersatz rim. I still think the Hope Hoops from CRC are the best bang-for-the-buck going.

It is a Fulcrum rim that he won't likely be able to get from a dealer. It is a mid-profile rim, and I would be suprised to find another rim with the same ERD. Plus being a low spoke count wheel would have me shy away from reusing the spokes, especially with how loose that one spoke was. I think a whole new wheel will be the best route.

My 2 cents, I would never rebuild with used spokes. Rose Versand has the best prices for spokes I have seen. As far as rims, I sold my last set of unwanted used rims to Jonesy, don't know if he built them up or not.
