Annual USAG-K Mountain Bike Race

The annual USAG-K Mountain Bike race is coming up quickly! Contact ODR at DSN 493 4117 to pre-register. The race will be held at Schopp on July 9.

USAG Kaiserslautern Army Outdoor Recreation is hosting one of the US Forces Europe MTB Bike Races on Saturday, 9 July 2011.  The race will be held at:

Directions from A6:
Exit Kaiserslautern Ost/Opel exit.  Travel on B270 towards Pirmasens (past Vogelweh AB) for approximately 13km.  Take first exit into Schopp.  Follow the main road (K7, Hauptstrasse) for about 2 km and take LEFT onto Friedhofstrasse.  Follow signs to Mountainbike-Technikparcours (on right hand side).

Registration:
Pre-registration is not mandatory but encouraged.  Registration forms can be found online at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or at Outdoor Recreation on Pulaski Barracks, building 2905.  Please fill out the form and turn it in at Outdoor Recreation or scan and e-mail to [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].  There is a $15 registration fee for the MTB event that can be paid in cash, check or card prior to the race (if e-mailing form, payment can be made over the phone with credit card at DSN 493-4117 or CIV 0631-34064117).   Only cash is accepted day of the race.  Day-of event registration begins at 0830 and closes at 0930.   It is mandatory for all participants to be present for the safety briefing of the course held at 0945!
 
Start number pickup:
The start numbers for all races will be given out during registration hours, from 0830 to 0930, as well as the event t-shirt.  Both are for racers to keep.  The t-shirts are handed out on a first come, first serve basis.

Commissary:
The closest commissary is located on Vogelweh AB.  After passing through the gates, continue straight through the first stop light.  Continue on, passing the bowling alley on the right and movie theater on the left.  The commissary will be on your right following these facilities.  There is also a commissary on Ramstein AB.  ATMs are located here.
 
Shoppette:
Located on Pulaski Barracks/Vogelweh AB, past the commissary, open 24/7.

Race Safety:
Helmets are required for all racers to be worn at all times.  Medics will be on site in case of emergencies.  Racers must follow all posted signs and rules and must dismount his/her bike when directed.  All racers are allowed and encouraged to pre-ride the course to warm-up and become familiar with the course.
