Who's attending the race this weekend???  This one is in our backyard so there's no excuse for missing it:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Information
Registration: The registration is conducted online. Click here to get to the registration form.

Race: Depending on age divisions, the main race covers 1 to 3 laps, with a length of 9.5 km, for all licensed and hobby racers. Children of birth years 2000 to 2005 may participate in a separate children?s race, covering a moderate 4.5 km course. Ambitioned junior riders of birth years 2000 and 2001 can either start in the children?s race over 4.5 km, or participate in the U13 class of the main event, which covers 1 lap of 9.5 km.

Race Fee: The race fee is 13 Euro for all riders above division U19. Riders of divisions U19 pay 8 Euro. All U17 and younger pay 3 Euro. Participants of the children?s race (short 4.5 km course) pay 3 Euro; price includes a voucher for a sausage and a soft drink.

Last-Minute Registration: Last-minute registration is possible on race day, up to 60 minutes before the start. An additional fee of 2 Euro is charged.

Start and Finish: Located at the event space in the center of Rodenbach, close to the TVR gymnasium and Fire Station. Distribution of Start Numbers / Transponder: The start numbers and chips will be distributed in the gymnasium. The transponder is returned directly after crossing the finish line. In exchange, you will directly receive a print-out of your time result. No time will be recorded if the transponder is lost. In this case, the athlete will receive a bill for the lost transponder. All participants who drop-out of the race must return the transponder to the race organization.

Changing- and Shower Facilities: Changing and shower facilities are available at the TVR gymnasium.

Does anyone have the Garmin profile for the course???  I would like to see what it looks like before I commit to such torture...

Never mind, I found it:

No worries...I'm still new here and this will give me time to scope out the course. Maybe we can get one of the weekly rides shifted up to this course. Very psyched! Dozer

Any good campsites near the race? There will be a motley bunch coming out from Hohenfels to do some German MTB.

Unknown about campsites. Not sure if there's any FAMCAMPs at any of the military bases around.

BTW, did my best to preview the course...which is pretty much impossible as its the standard German forest with a million trails and roads going all over the place...never more than 100-200m between intersections. There's a spot right in the middle that no kidding is the intersection of 6 trails!!! Hope they mark this course really, really well otherwise folks are going to be all over the place.

This is usually a well organized race.

I Googled "camping around kaiserslautern" and came up with a list of camp sites. I can't really recommend any cause I never camped around K-town...Give Kaiserslautern Outdoor Rec. a call, maybe they have more info...

That's cute and all, you had one racer show up. We brought 14 people from Hohenfels. Speaking of which, where were you guys for our race? This race was pretty good! What a great day!

Anyone going to make the Garmisch one?

Prepping for Schlaflos, this race doesn't even come close to the beat down that SiS delivers...

If anything it would have been nice to meet another US rider in Germany. The whole series is about meeting other people and having fun. I would hope a 28.5km ride would be nothing compared to a 2,200km ride around Austria, that is barely 1%. It's ok. Not everyone mountain bikes.

We'll be having (hopefully) a series of races at Hohenfels next year. Including a Road TT and Crit, as well as a couple of MTB races. Maybe come out? KMC could have a presence for a change. I would love to see some other jerseys on a podium besides Hohenfels...

cheers Check back to '12, when the KMC crew came to Hoenfels and swept the podiums, and the rest of the series races for that matter.  And the one guy we did have at the top of the (senior) podium this year at Rodenbach, singlespeed with less than optimum gearing.

US Forces Races in Europe....yawn.... get out and race in local races, go race destination races and tours, experience the European cycling culture first hand instead of reading about it in magazines and watching it on TV.  Last thing I want to do on a weekend is drive 3 hours to another military base, race around in a circle for maybe one hour, and then sit around listening to how "rad" that course was waiting for the podium presentation.clown

SiS, awesome experience the entire weekend.  How about form a couple of teams and come over with your Bavarian themed jerseys/socks and drink some beer and race all night next year.  We can probably work our contacts to get you registered without going through the standard method, it will only cost you a couple crates of Bavarian beer.

Make sure Dave B. gets to read this.  And tell him I still want those socks.Laughing
