Posting for a ride this Sunday. Supposed to be the better weather day for the weekend, and not as cold as it has been. Route suggestions? Dude came up with a tasty ride on the border... If all else fails, there's Rodalben or the good ol' W00g.

46433 has beenon my to do list for a while. The other route looks pretty good too.

Let's do 46433, then. I bet a good place to catch the trail is from the park behind the Krankenhaus. Easy train ride for us luddites in KMC, and a guaranteed hot meal (pizza/doner) and beer in Pirm. Winter start, 10am. We could probably keep it under 4 hours, but the people that posted this were the same sickos responsible for that route in Annweiler, so who knows.

the guys who posted it used the beckenhof as a start point. It is a beer garten restaurant in the middle of the forest by Pirm. PLenty of parking and beer at the end of the ride.

just to clear things up, are we meeting at the Beckenhof?

What is the stand down standard for this ride. It is pouring today.

If there is ice or snow on the roads in the morning, I am out. I have not mounted the snow tires yet on my clunker, and really do not want to.

I'm riding in from the train. Like Eric, I have no snow tires. I will ride from the Bahnhof to the park with the little lake near the hospital (which has a parking lot). From there, the trailhead starts that will go to Beckenhof, but there is no advantage to meeting at Beckenhof rather than Pirmasens. I don't know how long that will take, but I can estimate time for being at the park since it is just a mile on the road and downhill from the bahnhof... If anyone wants to ride in on the train with me, we can get cheap VRN tickets and ride to whatever meeting point together.

Weather- It is suposed to be 4C at 6AM, and will rise to 7C by midday. Rain will be just mist early in the morning, and break for the day before sprinkles by evening. It will not be too wet or too cold. Weather is not going to be an issue Sunday.

So who's driving, who's riding the train, and who's staying home? I'm getting on the train in Landstuhl at 8am and will be at the park by 9:30. If we must meet at the restaurant in the woods, that's a half hour to get there and only 150m of climbing.

The restraunt does provide a fixed point to start from though. Just saying Pirmasens is way vague. We need a fixed point like a parking lot somewhere. What kind of ride time are we looking at? 4+ hours?

I just got tapped for a honey dew in the early afternoon. Looks like it is the Woog for me tomorrow. Have fun guys.

Ok, the train schedule gets me in the parking lot at the green arrow at 9:30. Another plus for meeting there is a guaranteed cellular signal. Thanks for being flexible. We can still finish at the hiker's pub at beckhof and coast the 2km back to where we started. Much easier for me to do it that way with the train. I'm stoked to ride this area again, it's been a long time!
