Today 26 Aug, 1400...80km Ride
The ride will meet up at the RAB South Side Fitness Center. The course is going to be mainly flat...17-19 mph. Please respond if you will be there.

That you, Christian?
Christian,
Was that you riding down the hill between Melkerei and Atzel yesterday? I was the guy riding the cross bike up the trail on the side of the road? We need to hook up for some riding. Unfortunately, I can't make rides on weekdays...unless it's on a 4-day weekend.

Just curious... when you road guys post a speed like this, is that your target cruising speed, or your actual overall average speed?

Avg speed
Not speaking for Christian's post here. In general, when road ride avg speeds are listed, it indicates the overall average speed on your computer at the end of the ride. For instance, the Tuesday evening "German" ride from Q-Bach may have an avg speed of 22mph, but that includes flats at 25+, climbs at 12-13 and some cruising at around 20mph. Many team/club/group websites will post rides as AX, A, B, C...etc. They then give a key to the lettering system which states that AX=race pace ride at 22+, A= 20+, B= 18+, C= 16-18 and so on. Unfortunately, many new riders will join these rides with the expectation that the posted speed is the target cruising speed, then are upsed when they get dropped because the ride hits speeds which are much higher. A clearer explanation would help reduce the liklehood of this happening. It might be nice to put something like this on the website/forum.

What's a bicycle computer? ... thanks for explanation. Once I get another spat of time to work on the page, I'm going to revive the riding resources page, and this and some other info will go into the guide to group rides section.velo-doc wrote:Not speaking for Christian's post here. Hey Christian, one my kids has a dental at 2:30. I'm going to have to ride right at 3:30 to fit in my ride for today. Sorry, I still want to head out there. So if you could post the shop address I'll put it in my GPS. Thanks!

Chad,
It is very well possible...I am not familiar with the villages, but was out by Weselberg yesterday afternoon. I am hard to miss...florescent green/yellow helmet, Black/Red Cervelo R3 and 6'4''. Would definitely enjoy linking up for a ride...you should come out with us on Tuesday afternoon.

Is anyone planning on showing...did not appear so. Do not want to leave anybody hanging, but also do not want to waste time going to the base for no reason.
