Need help with a bike
Looking for a 54cm road bike to borrow/rent for next week at the TDF. Would be lovingly cared for. I have an uncle coming over and Frank has only a road bike with flat bar to rent. I would come pick it up and drop off...sparkling clean! Thanks.
Also, I will have my camper in Briancon, near many good climbs, so let me know if you're going to be in the area.
Chad

Re: Need help with a bike
In reading my reply I see it does seem a little cryptic or joking...
I'm quite serious though... I have a Kona Paddywagon in 54 CM. it is a fairly decently appointed singlespeed road bike. Current gearing is 52X18 but I have a 16 we could throw on there if that gearing would suit the purposes better.Running roubinaex 23mm road tires, and a brooks saddle... other than that (and the gearing) it's a stock 2009 paddwywagon

Re: Need help with a bike
Thanks, Krocko, but he is a diminutive lad, so 58cm is a bit too big...this is starting to feel a bit like Goldilocks! I'm hoping for a post w/ the bike that is "just right." Thanks, though.

Thanks for the offer, Jonesy. My uncle would be lucky to push that gear on the flats, let alone the high cols!

I'm assuming that you're going to be there on Thursday/Friday, when the race comes through. I plan to ride Galibier on Thursday morning. Hope you're flying an American flag...I'll look for ya. Have fun.

Re: Need help with a bike
Alright, well let me know if everything else falls through, we can always slap a smaller chain ring (I have a couple sittin' around) up front and set it up with something more like 42X16 or 42X18... heck I think I even have a pair of halfway decent flat pedals if that's route you were going... Just let me know I really don't mind changing the gearing etc... just might ask that you provide a chain, since dropping the gearing like that would require a much shorter chain, and if I shorten mine, I can't use it again at my gearing....velo-doc wrote:Thanks for the offer, Jonesy. Oh, and not that it should really need to be said, but the rental price would simply be good will and good karma from my fellow riders
