I plan on making this ride, I have to work till 17:00 then drive there from Baumholder, so 18:00 will be a tight SP time...BTW I have lights....

Most definitely. New organic pads, braided brake hoses, finally the perfect bar and stem, and fresh oil in the forks... it's ON!

Year and a half old break pads, hoses with multiple slits in the housing, most defiantly not the perfect bar stem combo of 60mm stem 30" wide bar. But I do have a new fork. : lol!

Are we still meeting up at 1800? (Edit:duh it says so in the thread title)

I think we should put it out well in advance if changing the meeting location is going to be considered. What we can do if we want to get more out of our ride is either add the Kindsbach loop (probably better after dark due to heavy dog-walking traffic so near Milkerei) or just make a u-turn on the return when we get across the little slab bridge at the spring near the top by Gate 4 and do the northern hillside a second time. It may also be worthwhile to scout (on a weekend when there's daylight) the hills south of Atzel for a detour to add a few kilometers to our loop. Hoernchenberg (where the tunnel is) has trail, and is a full 100m vert above the Bismarckturm, for example.

Hi all. I am very new to Germany (been here 5 days)... I would like to ride the area, but don't have a real light. Is there somewhere to get one on short notice, or would a small AA powered one suffice for the first ride?

Your options- buy an excellent My Tiny Sun from Frank's for a hundred or so, or I can bring an older halogen L&M that you can use (battery is getting weak). There are AA lights that work well at 900 Lumens out there, but they're definitely not a PX item. An AA light is better than nothing, and you can ride in between two riders with lights for trail illumination. If you go that route, you will probably buy both a head lamp and a bar lamp the minute you get home after the ride.

I encourage you to come along regardless. I'll make sure to throw that spare in my pack.
