Not much organization to it yet, but I know there definitely is going to be a group of us going. I will probably post the details of our group when velo-doc gets back after Jan.7.

I will be there too. Make sure to catch the womens race for sure because we might actually win that one. Katie Compton is tearing the women up this year.

Any plans yet for Sunday? The women start at 1100...it would be great to have as few drivers as possible, it's sure to be a madhouse for parking.

You read my mind. I have my KMC Cycling wool jersey ready to go! I can't wait to see Katie Compton kick some butt! I am all ears for the driving plan. I have coolers for anyone interested.

I will be car pooling with some friends from Graf. We went to the championships last year in Czech. Traffic is not that bad. It will be a crazy, sick time! When you all get there, give me a call on my cell at 01736935048. If I remember correctly, it costs roughly twenty euros for the entrance fee. If you get there early enough, you can go through the team area and drool over all the nice bikes they have.

Re: UCI Cylcocross Worlds
I'm in. Thinking about taking the train though to avoid driving/parking issues.
EDIT: Just checked prices/schedule.
27 euro for the RP/Saarland Lander-Ticket, good all day for up to 5 people.
Takes 1:05 by train from Landstuhl to St. Wendel.

How far is the train station to the race venue at St Wendel? Would love to take the train, but don't want to haul my ice chest miles and miles.

Re: UCI Cylcocross Worlds
Entry looks like 15 Euro for Sunday only. 20 Euro for weekend pass. We need to start working this out so we can have a decent showing. Should be a muddy mess this year. We can pray for snow to make it even better. Any other takers?

From Googlemaps looks like about a kilometer give or take. Sounds like they will have shuttle busses running though. And really, an ice chest?? Dude, it's going to be like 20 degrees, the world is your ice chest!spookyload wrote:How far is the train station to the race venue at St Wendel? Hell yeah. Cross is a massive BYOB event. I haven't had an American beer since coming here, but cheering for the USA would not be the same drinking a Belgian beer since they are competition.
From reading the website, the shuttle buses are from the parking lots to the race venue. I didn't see where it mentioned the train station.

Re: UCI Cylcocross Worlds
So is everyone wanting to take the train? If so which train from Landstuhl? Womens race starts at 11:00, and it would be best to get there by 10:00 if you want a decent spot to watch. There is a train leaving at 8:16 that gets in at 9:20. That would leave a the next train as a back up in case the first one is too full as often happens with spoting events.

The perfect compromise is to drink Blue Moon... a belgian-style wheet brewed in the USA by Molson... (available at the class six).jvanhuis wrote:There's a reason for that...spookyload wrote:I haven't had an American beer since coming hereOh all right, but where do you buy PBR over here?spookyload wrote:but cheering for the USA would not be the same drinking a Belgian beer since they are competition

Re: UCI Cylcocross Worlds
OK, so how many people are taking the train from LAndstuhl? and at what time? I might try and join in on this one... I'll volunteer to pedal my cargo trailer with ice and beer, to the train station and then to the venue, but I'll need help reducing the weight of my beer trailer for the ride home!
Put me down as a tentative for this one... OBTW it is this SUNDAY we are talking about right?

Re: UCI Cylcocross Worlds
Yes this sunday. The 0816 train looks like the best bet. We get there about an hour and a half before the first race, but at cross races you can walk around and see the riders warming up and mechanics prepping gear. Much more spectator friendly than a pro road race.
