Road Wheelset Recommendations?
I've been pretty much mountain exclusive for the last few years so I'm kinda outta the loop on road wheels. Anyone have some recommendations for a mid range set of wheels (I consider mid range to be around $1000 for the set)? The internet is full of opinions of course but if you like something you've actually ridden I'd appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for the info.

I am not a light or careful road rider. I went the heavier route with the Mavic Cosmic Carbones. I was amazed how fast the wheels are and not devastated by their weight like I thought it might be. With that budget, I would keep an eye on Bonktown.com for them to list the Reynolds Deep-V carbon clinchers. they retail for around $1800, but they have been listing them for $900.

I really like the feel of my Spinergy PBO wheels. They make the bike feel as smooth as riding a rail. Probably not the best for a crit rider, where you want something snappy, but for long road rides they're great.

Thanks for the info guys. Picked up a pair of Ksyrium Elites today at Franks, they had been hanging in there awhile and they made me a good deal on them. Nothing fancy but also nothing I'm going to cry over if I dent them again. See you guys tomorrow in Lambrecht.
