Going Tubeless

Getting ready to go Tubeless and like anything I dive into I tend to over analyze it until I have no doubt as to what I'm doing. I found these videos to be pretty helpful so I thought I'd share them in case anyone out there was thinking of going this route...

If you are going tubeless with a stans, I look forward to hearing your results. I tried it a couple months ago and had zero luck. If it is a tubeless system, I can say it is a breeze.

What kind of problems did you have??? I'm going to follow the video and go with the yellow rim tape and Stan's sealant on my Stan's ZRT Flow's...

I was using a Mavic rim and Geaux tire. Both on the reccomended list. Used the full Stans kit reccomended, and I just couldn't get it to hold a bead...or even start holding air for that matter. Tried all of their tricks they showed, but I couldn't get it to take air. I tried a compressor, floor pump and even CO2. I love Stans in my tubeless wheels, I just couldn't get the noTubes kit to work for me.

Did the tubeless conversion on my Flow's last weekend which to me seemed like a super easy process. Per the video, I aired up the wheels without sealant and let sit for 30 min which held air remarkably well...I think they would have been ride able. I then broke the bead, which was pretty difficult on the ZTR Clincher rims, and added sealant. I then let the wheels sit for a while expecting to lose some air while the sealant set-in but they had absolutely no air lose. I've had the wheels out on four occasions since and they are performing flawlessly. I highly recommend this conversion for those haven't already done so...

Did you get the special valve stem so that you can just unscrew the inside of the presta valve and then pour the sealant in thru the valve? I have those on my ZTR 355's and its a bit easier than un-seating the tire from the rim every few months to add sealant.
does anyone know the long-term effects of adding sealant multiple times? it would seem that over time you'd get more dried-out latex in the tire, adding to the weight of the tire. thoughts?

Not sure, I put in the recomended Stans valve stems. It was pretty easy breaking a small portion of the bead and pouring the sealant in.
I personally would remove all the old sealant and put the recomended amount in...as required. That way you know how much you have in the tire...

Done Ghettttto tubeless for years now. It all depends on the tire manufacture... Maxis work very well, Kenda, not so much... We worked one side of the tire on, pour the goop in, then put the other side of the bead on. Slap the air compressor on there and POOF. Has to be more than a bit of pressure to seat the bead. Spin tire for about 5 mins at 40-50psi to make sure it seats. Then done!

But... when the bead pops off on a fast n rocky decent your rim is trashed as well as your leg being covered in white goo!
