The K.M.C. Cycling Club is a diverse group of people from across the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC) brought together by a common interest in cycling and cycling advocacy. Whether through racing, group rides, community involvement or social events centered on cycling, K.M.C. Cycling's primary purpose is to further the sport of cycling in the KMC, and provide a valuable cycling outlet to its members. We are a not-for-profit organization that values diversity, friendship and, above all, a good ride.

L'etape de Tour July 9-12

The L'etape de Tour is a race/ride for amatuers and occurs on the first rest day of the TdF. It is the same course the pro peleton will be riding in the tour a few days later. Here is more specific info for driving to the event:
Duration: 4 days, 3 nights
Dates: 07/09/2011 - 07/12/2011
Start & Finish: Lanslevillard - Alpe d'Huez
Program Highlights: Modane to Alpe d'Huez: 109 km (68 miles) including the legendary Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier, and the Alpe d'Huez
Tour de France Viewings:
Rates: EUR 690 Twin or Double Room @ 2* hotel
It is approximately 250 euro for a deposit and the final balance is not due until a few weeks for the event.
It is pricey to do this event. However this is an experience that you may do once in a lifetime, riding the legendary Cols. I am planning on riding, but don't want to do it by myself. I am driving down. If you are interested, let me know.
