What day, what time?
Weekend Road Ride Poll
In the interest of trying to pull as many Lycra-clad riders together as possible, I am polling the club to see when the most riders are likely to come out to ride. Since I can pretty much ride whenever, at least on the weekend, I will put together a ride for whichever day and time gets the most votes. I will host this ride every weekend, circumstances permitting, and will try to get a secondary host, to cover weekends I can't ride, and to take over after I PCS.
Note: For all options the ride will run 2-2.5 hours, distance dependent on speed of the group. Until everyone gets back up to speed, assume an average pace of ~25 km/h.

All times work for me, but Saturday afternoons are the most preferred. I will also volunteer to be a secondary host for once you PCS.

Well looks like I am the odd man out here! Anyways I can do anytime but prefer Mornings. When I say morning I mean I am out riding with the sunrise so that I can get back home early as possible and still be able to enjoy the day with the family.

I agree with Duvi. Although I do like it warmer out I will take earlier and colder if it increases my chances of convincing the wife that I deserve a weekly bike ride with some friends.
With that said, either morning works great for me most of the time.

The only time that doesn't work is Sunday mornings. I need to go get my Jesus with the family.

I will leave the poll open for additional votes, but am setting up a ride for Sunday afternoon this week. I will post a new topic just for the ride, and cross post to FB.

The day changes according to the mood of the riders and the weather. This weekend we rode Saturday, and the weather won.

Hello,
I'm about prepared to get the road bike out and start some overdue cycling. I was curious as to when your weekly training rides are held, what kind of road racing y'all get into, and really just some general information that might be pertinent to an aspiring member. Thanks a lot and I look forward to the ride.
And dammit Bobby, why do you have to be leaving right when I get the time to start putting in miles?
Mitch

Re: Weekend Road Ride Poll
Mitch,
I hope the Wednesday p.m. ride picks up again. That was pretty regular starting in late March (when daylight savings ends). Departs from the SS gym at 1730 and is under a different thread.. I will definitely be in on that again. Great group of folks and a great after-work ride. Having said all that, if you've got a regular time you want to ride, I say go for it. Post it and make it happen.

Re: Weekend Road Ride Poll
The other main consideration I've noticed lately (besides the weather which is always the primary consideration) is traffic.
Saturday am/pm is ALWAYS worse than Sunday am or pm. For that reason, I'm shifting my rides to Sunday (assuming the weather cooperates).

Re: Weekend Road Ride Poll
I just got back from a ride and Sunday AM is a really nice time to be on the roads around here. The mid-week sounds great as long as work decides to comply. On a sererate and completely ridiculous note, as I was coming down L464 past Martinshohe, I noticed my pedal feeling wonky, once I got to bruchmulbach-miseau I stopped to take a look and the pedal bolt groves on my left crank arm were stripped just enough that I cannot get the pedal back on...yes, i biked one legged home. Is anyone selling a gently used mid-range crankset I could throw on my Bianchi? It might just be time to buy new, but I always like to check the waters first. Thanks

I'm up for Wednesdays at 1530
I had been riding Sunday mornings, but have been riding with a group on Saturdays at 1400 recently.

Duvi,
Can you post up when you and your riding group are doing rides? I would like to join in on the weekend rides. Thanks.

Re: Weekend Road Ride Poll
Yeah, I just need to get some organization and pace lines back into my longer rides. I'd love to join whenever I can. We work a panama at the moment so every other weekend I'm usually stuck but we often go in late sundays. If anyone is interested in a regular Sunday morning ride I think we should just organize it. If saturdays work better, I'll be there every chance I get.
Side note: does anyone on here do any road races in the area? I'd like to pick their brain about the procedures and get a feel for the catagories here.

I am in for Sunday mornings. I will be out of town this weekend for the four day, but I am definitely in weekends afterwards. Let's start posting up meeting times and routes.

Re: Weekend Road Ride Poll
I have been riding with a group that rides for the bike shop in Ramstein Miesenbach, for now I have been the only non German. We have been doing ~60K @ 35kmph.
Anyone is welcome to ride, 1400 Saturdays, meet at the shop.
I could also do Sundays post up what the plan is, and I'll try to make it.
