PCs'ing to Ramstein
Based on all the new intro it looks like PCS season is in full swing! I just found out I'll be headed to Germany for the next 2-3 years and will likely be living in the Queidersbach area. It also looks like the house I'll be in backs up to a signficant forest with what looks decent trail access...I can already see my road bikes getting much less use :-). I'll definetly be intrested in meeting up with the group for both MTB and road rides, won't be coming in until July/Aug (actually still deployed for the next 2 weeks). Along those lines, I'll be rewarding myself with a new frame/bike (post deployment gift to myself) and wanted to get an idea of the terrain. I actually pulled the trigger on a Ibis Mojo SL SB which is still sitting in the box at home but I've been offered an HD at a great price. I'm currently ridding a Litespeed Niota ti with adjustable 4"/5" travel with a lefty DLR2, I'm mostly a technical XC guy but do enjoy a good knarly trail on occasion (Niota set to 5"). What do you guys recommend is an HD overkill for the area? Do you think I should return the bike (not an issue) or is the market in Europe pretty good to sell a new Mojo SL frame? Cheers
Oh one more thing, what are the trail laws like? Do they allow dogs on trails off leash?

Re: PCs'ing to Ramstein
I have an HD, and it is more than I need for the local trails, but is nice at bike parks (bought it for Megavalanche). I have a Trek Fuel EX7 which was plenty for the area, and a few of the club run rigid quite successfully (masochists!)
Road biking is also nice here, I ride my road bike more often than my MTB, counting the days I ride it to work.
Welcome.

Ahh Megavalanche...sweet. Have to put that on my "to do" list for next year! Does the club have a team going?

Not so much a team, as a loose conglomeration of like-minded idiots. Should be about four of us right now.
