Beilstein Trail?
From the main KMCCYCLING page:
...the Landstuhl Loop, Gelterswoog Loop and the Beilstein Trail (trail guides in the works for all of these).
Just surfing and found this reference on our trail guide page. I've never heard of it, anyone ride it or have any more info on it? Found a grainy/choppy youtube video of it and it looked pretty good.

Re: Beilstein Trail?
I'm researching it, from what I found out the yellow W, the red and white rectangle and trail number 4 will get you there. Just need to figure out where to pic up these trails. Looks like it could be a fun adventure. I think it would be possible to start like the normal woog ride and then get on to the trail behind the bremerhof. I will check out my trail map tonight.

Re: Beilstein Trail?
Sorry guys, hoped to have the trail maps and guides up sooner than this, and the Beilstein Trail would have been self-evident then... Anyway, it's my name for a series of single track trails leading from the Schule am Beilstein (in Kaiserslautern East) out to Hochspeyer and connecting to parts of Trail 4.
The name Beilstein is from the school, as well as a set of old burg ruins atop a hill along the trail.
It's quite a nice trail, and a good bit of single track, and it links up with a small downhill park, and eventually with trail 4.

Re: Beilstein Trail?
"series of singletrack trails"? "good bit of singletrack"? "small downhill park"?
jonesy, you're saying all the right words and phrases so far.
I assume you can make a loop out of these trails starting and ending at Schule am Beilstein? Is it long enough for a group ride?

Re: Beilstein Trail?
Yeah, I've been trying to get folks to come over to this end of town for while... haven't had any takers.... guess I didn't sell it right before...
We could do a ride Friday... perhaps early in the afternoon. Maybe starting at around 11 or 12 You can make a two hour ride out of it easy...
We could meet at Schule am Beilstein and go from there... it's not so much a loop, as just an out and back.
I'll try and get the navi address for schule am beilstein. It's right behind Kleber Kaserne on the east side of Ktown.
What time is best for y'all that are interested?

Re: Beilstein Trail?
try to link it with the map here and you could make a nice loop. later link it to the woog ride.

Re: Beilstein Trail?
Linking it to gWOOG is easy enough... from the Homberg Turm (the big tower) on the University loop, take a fire road/trail downhill on the opposite side from where we usually climb up during the GWOOG ride, this leads over to trails that link up to the ones Im talking about.

I'm in for Friday if we start early enough. 11 is about the latest start I could get away with.

If I do this on Fri I would have to be back at the house by 1300hrs because I have to be somewhere later in the afternoon...I'm thinking 0900-1000hrs would be better for me, the loop looks to be 24Km...

Re: Beilstein Trail?
you guys figure it out and I will see if I can get friday off so I can join y'all.
Vote for noon!
Yo,
We're having our family Christmas Fri AM; I'm off but my in-laws are here from CONUS for our new baby, so we're doing Xmas now, almost 2 months late.
In any case, I've got child care with the in-laws so I'm finally able to get out and ride, so sorry Zenkem, but I'm voting for starting at noon so I can be have Christmas with my kids and get a ride in. I'm not selfish, though! If others want to start earlier, I'll hopefully see you guys out there on the trails more very soon.
-George
P.S. I'm bringing my 650b-converted Switchblade; its rad.

Velmannstrasse 11
67657 Kaiserslautern
'schule am Beilstein'
Noon Friday
Plan for roughly 2 hour ride. The trail is mostly singlespeed friendly, with a couple of significant climbs.
