What time? I'm typically out there earlier than 1800, just too late for me getting home around 2000 at night.
But I will guide if possible. I don't have my bike with me at work so I'll have to run home and get it.

Did we miss you? We got back to the parking lot and seen some cars with racks on them. We left around 1800.
Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
I rode the LRMC trail yesterday and it's in pretty good shape. There are a few wet spots in the typical locations. Time to get the weekly going again and for me to get off my lazy a$$.
Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
I'm going to be riding LRMC today. If no one pipes up I'll be parking at Gate 3 to ride the fun stuff.
Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
What time are folks gonna be starting the ride?

Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
Well, it's only been me. I like starting rides around 1600 so I don't get home so late. Being by myself, I just been riding the fun stuff by parking at Gate 3 entrance of LRMC.
Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
1600 is kinda tough...1700 or 1730 is more my speed. I've ridden the Burg ride several times but never started at Gate 3. Are folks just parking outside the gate and heading north on that trail outside the fence line?

Well, it's not "folks", it is just me. There are many people that park at Gate 3 to walk and hike. There is actually climbing classes held out there too and the students and instructors park there.
In regards to the time, 1700 would be the latest I could start from Gate 3.

Copy. I need to start adjusting work schedule to be out earlier to make mid-week rides. Whats the route look like from the gate 3 starting point?

From Gate 3 I just ride the single track around LRMC. The loop is a total of 5km. You can re-loop the loop by dropped down to Salvatories and climbing back up and back tracking the second half down from the Bismarkturm. Or what I been doing is my wife drops me off and I ride the trails then pedal all the way back home down the L396 - that tacks on several km to the ride and I get my spinning in for exercise after I had my fun on the single track.
It's not a long ride, but it's all single track and there are of course lots of rocks and technical stuff to ride. Reminds me of what I used to ride all the time back in New England. I just don't like riding double track/dirt roads like the Germans seem to like.
Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
5k? I'm interested in picking up a Tues MTB option, but I need to get in a good hour or so of sustained riding, otherwise I'll settle for a run. Which gate is #3, and what time?

Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
Gate #3 is the main gate for LRMC. If you follow the road signs to "US Hospital" it will lead you there. You cross the A62 via bridge directly before the gate.
From Gate 3 it is 5k. By myself I do the 5k at a fast pace. Which is good for me being the trail is 40% technical - true single track.
Departing from Burg Nanstein makes it around a 10k ride, just the part getting to LRMC is pretty boring so I don't ride it alone. If we could get the ride going again for some comradery I would gladly ride from the Burg!
I rode today and there were a few soft spots. I start early by myself.

Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
I rode those trails about 2 weeks ago on the cross bike. Some of them can use the traffic. I ride out of Ramstein so I could rack up some miles if I can figure out how to ride up the trails to the Landstuhl main gate. Pls post up the start times if you plan to do this ride on Tuesdays.

Re: 2014 Landstuhl Weekly No Drop Rides
Will do. There has been nearly zero interest here in a while. The cycling club here has fallen on the way-side.
Next week is out for me, on spring break vacation; however, I might right LRMC again this week - tomorrow or Thursday. I stick to the LRMC trail a lot because it is the only good single track I have found here locally. I love Germany, but I miss my single track!! The Germans generally accepted definition of Mountain Biking is not one I share.
