Re: bamberg race
Looks like they are doing a 10k trail run as well. Still no start time, but the location says "Local Training Area".
Anyone else planning on making the trip? We have room for a couple more if anyone wants to make the trip, just let me know so I can arrange the bike transport.
A woman racer from the KMC would be guaranteed a spot on the podium...

Re: bamberg race
Just got off the phone with Bamberg ODR... they were not even sure when the race starts.
10k run starts at 0900 at the "local training area"
MTB Race Registration starts at 0800
MTB Race start 0900
I asked that they update the FB page when they decide.

Free beer and Funions was pretty sweet!
I spoke with Bamberg ODR, they had a hard time confirming the actual start time, 0900 on Saturday.

Re: bamberg race
BBG ODR posted 10 AM on the facebooks last night.
maybe they'll split the difference at 0930?
the said the start line was "at the entrance to the training area" by the autobahn. anyone have an idea about where this would be?

Re: bamberg race
Was another successful KMC Cycling campaign in Bamberg on Saturday. Racers included Mike "Legs" Larson, George "Squishy" Smolinski, and Chad "Hanger-on" Hendrickson. The plan was to stay together and see how the race developed. Masters racer Leigh Plowman took the race out at a moderate pace, and clearly had a game plan in mind. Unfortunately, George's rear(tire) was losing air, and he wasn't able to keep contact as Leigh amped things up. Mike and I followed as Leigh created an ever expanding gap back to the chase group. It was the three of us through the s/f on lap one, but it was now time put "plan B" into action. Mike and I drove hard on the hills and Leigh found it too much to follow. We came through the s/f together at the end of lap 2 with a 25 second lead. Trading duties on the front, I found it difficult to stay with Mike as he ground a big gear with impressive power up some steep fire road sections. I gutted it out to stay together, and Mike took the win on his SS with pinache...adding yet another KMC Cycling name to the list of winners at a US Forces MTB Championship Series race. Hope to see more of you at the final event in Garmisch on Sept 8!

Re: bamberg race
Course was fast and dry. There were several sections of single track, and they supposedly added some this year. All-in-all was a nice event...glad we went.

Re: bamberg race
We are still hearing about “those k’ town guys” after Justin and Chad’s performance at the series opener. It was fun to go into the race with a plan, and then watch it unfold. I'm glad Chad kept his hammer safely stowed this Saturday, allowing me to "hang-on" his wheel as we toured the training area. Thanks!
I’m confident George will be on fire in Garmisch. It would be great to have a Masters Racer (JIM) to keep Lee Plowman and George’s nemesis occupied. A woman racer could still finish 2nd place in the series. We just need to get one.
No funyuns this time Matt, just bitchin’ beer steins!

Re: bamberg race
Thanks for digging this up, Mike. We should get stuff like this posted to the website for max exposure. Also, what's the best way to get stuff in the local media? I believe that Justin submitted the first race write-up, and we should continue to promote the club w/ that kind of coverage.
