Erbeskopf Mountainbike Marathon (08 July)
I just wanted to pass on some information about the Erbeskopf MTB Marathon that I'm doing on July 8. It looks like it will be a pretty good race, and it's onlt about an hour away. There are three different distances to choose from: 38k beginners course, 65k Half marathon, and the full 110k MTB Marathon with 3100 HM. Here's the link to the site if you want more information:

I'm in.
I bit the bullet and signed up for the 110km Strecke. This should be interesting.

That's the distance I signed up for too. I'm sure it will be a lot of...fun? 3100 meters of climbing over 110km will be a challenge. The fastest and slowest finishing times the last couple years were about 4 hours 50 minutes and 9 hours respectively. I want to finish, but not last!

By the way, you're not officially in the race until you pay the entry fee at the bank. Also, if you pay before the 22nd, you'll get your' name and team name printed below your' race number.
Bought and Paid for
I paid for the event within 30 minutes of signing up. I guess I'll have a souvenir number.

Cracked Ribs
Well, my marathon came to an early end. I slipped on some grass around kilometer seven and came down hard.. I twisted my knee and cracked at least one rib, maybe two. Looks like I won't be riding either bike for at least a month. Bummed.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. It was a hell of a race; every bit as challenging as I thought it would be. I wish you could have finished it. This is what you missed:
