Bike Rodeo May 19th **Volunteers needed**
Bike Rodeo May 19th, Old Bx Parking Lot 1000-1200 (Setup 0800, teardown until 1300 or so)
This is the situation:
Ramstein Youth center will be providing the 5 gallon water containers, 1 EZ up, a qualified person with CPR credentials and first aid kits, about 15 cones in various sizes, and maybe 20 more of various shapes, water bottles for the give-away bags, and completion certificates. They will also be advertising through their information system that targets about 2,000 kids. Their marketing department is still working on a flyer for release, but I don’t think we will be short of kids.
What we as a club still need to secure:
People: We are still in need of 3 or 4 people to run a station. This includes the material prep and planning. Right now we have the following:
Station 1 (Registration): Mike plus a Youth Center
Station 2 (Bike Inspection and Helmet fit): John and Daniel + 1 or 2
Station 3 (Starts and Stops combined with scanning): Jim ( You were volunteered) +1
Station 4 (Demon Driveway): Chad +1
Station 5 (Rock Dodge): ?? +1
Station 6 (Turtle Race): Justin +1
Station 7 (Putting it together): ?? +1 or 2
We also will be having up to 10 boy scouts helping out as well as 1 or 2 youth center representatives.
Ideally we want one KMC rep at each station.
Give Away bags. Matt had some items for the bags along with the water bottle from Youth center. I will double check the bags will be provided by RYC, but items for the bag?
EZ ups. As many as we can obtain. It would be nice to have one per station.
Station leads are responsible for obtaining necessary supplies to run their station, such as bike stands, tools, tables (even though we should be able to get a couple from Youth center for registration), posters displaying the station number, etc.
We as a club (volunteer opp) need to create a “completion card” for the stations and print them on cardstock for the kids to get checked off at each station, and then they turn that in at the end to receive the bag and completion certificate.
Please fill in where you can, speak up for a station. Any questions let me or Chad know.
Thanks,
Justin

I think Jonsey would be good for this one ... if we are short on rocks, we could get one of those lowering exit control arms to dodge!
If we cannot locate a volunteer for station 7, we can just point the kids out towards the street. If they make it to the BK parking lot alive, they can get there certificate.

I like the BK idea, it combines the demon driveway and rock dodge into 1 station! A certificate and a Whopper Jr for the survivors!

I will be there with a easy up.
Also, Phaty the guy who runs SiS is planning on doing trail maint on the SiS trail Saturday afternoon. It would be great if we could get some folks to go out there after the rodeo to help out. I will be going.

TriChick: How about you take the Starts and Stops combined with scanning?
BigWaveDave: How about you take the putting it all together? PM your private emails and I will email you reference documents to help you plan the station.
Here is what the station list looks like now:
Station 1: Registration (Mike may be out of town so a volunteer please?)
Station 2: bike/helmet fit, inspection (John and Daniel)
Station 3: Starts/stops and scanning (TriChick)
Station 4: Demon Driveway (Chad)
Station 5: Rock Dodge (?????)
Station 6: Turtle Race (Justin)
Station 7: Finale (Dave)
We could potentially merge 4 and 5 or 6 into 7 if needed.
The flyers are available so please disseminate. Does anyone want to see about getting it into the KA free section this week?

Re: Bike Rodeo May 19th **Volunteers needed**
We are still in need of a few volunteers just to be minimally manned. This is a great cause, very hands on, and very rewarding. If your name has not been mentioned in the previous post, then I do not have you down. Time is running out, so make some time and help out with the Bike Rodeo.

Goodie Bags
The club will need to provide the actual bags for the goodie bags. Does anyone have any leftover bags they can donate? We are looking for 100 bags, so please post up what you can come up with, and then we (I) need to purchase some if needed.
DaBurm13: Thank you for volunteering, would you be up for running station 5 "Rock Dodge"? PM for more details and if you are interested.
Good chance Mike will be back in time to run the registration table with a RYS rep, but will need a back up just in case.

Re: Bike Rodeo May 19th **Volunteers needed**
Things are coming together. Here's what we have for stations:
1: Mike/registration
2: John, Daniel, Matt/Inspection, bike/helmet fit
3: Bike Cop (as long as he does not get called away)
4: TriChick (Michelle?) starts and stops
5: Chad/Demon driveway
6: Brian/rock dodge
7: Justin/ turtle race
8: Dave/Putting it together
We will have NO boy scout volunteers. So you may be the only one running a station. Bring a volunteer with you if you can. A volunteer for a volunteer.
I have had confirmation from everyone except TriChick. Remember, RYS will have some cones and I have a box of sidewalk chalk, but you are in charge of bringing the necessary props and knowledge for your station. Brian excluded. So if you have an EZ up, table, something to mark where your station is, bring it.
Also, wear your jersey and this will help to mark who is in charge of the station.
Try to show up around 9 to give yourself enough time for set up, as we want to be ready to go at 10.
Questions, problems, give me or Chad a call.

Re: Bike Rodeo May 19th **Volunteers needed**
Weather is looking very promising for tomorrow's rodeo, sunshine and low 60's, and not to bad for Sunday's meet and greet, 70's and slight chance of rain. Things have mostly come together, the only station I don't have a hard confirmation for is #4.
John/Daniel, do you guys have enough bike stands tools?
We will have 5 Ramstein Youth Center personnel to help out, 2 of them probably at registration.
Here is where we are for stations:
1: Mike/RYS /registration
2: John, Daniel, Matt/Inspection, bike/helmet fit
3: Bike Cop (as long as he does not get called away)
4: Steve/TriChick (Michelle?) starts and stops
5: Chad/Demon driveway
6: Brian/rock dodge
7: Justin/ turtle race
8: Dave/ Kendall /Putting it together
Remember to bring an EZ up if you have them, I think we have atleast 3, and maybe a table, as well as props if your station needs them.
See everyone tomorrow morning around 9 or so.

Re: Bike Rodeo May 19th **Volunteers needed**
Glad to hear that things are coming together...now all we need is kids! I will be there between 0830 and 0900 with the whole Hendrickson crew. I will bring my EZ-UP and a couple of tables. I scored some bags from Frank, and Nikki picked up some goods to put in them. If the weather cooperates, then we are golden. See you all in the a.m.

I have one stand only, so if we want any more than one workstation, bring a stand if you have one... Let's try for three to avoid an all-day bottleneck. Same goes for tools, oil, all of the above.

I will be there!
Sorry for not confirming sooner, but I will be there. I'll be there early for set-up too. I've got a bike stand, but it's one that requires you to take a wheel off (Park Tool PRS-21).

Mike has a big bottle of lube if he makes it. I'll throw a bottle of rocknroll in and a stand for a backup.
