Wanted: RD-7700-GS Derailleur
I'm looking for a 1997-2003 Shimano Dura-Ace "GS" long-cage 9-speed rear derailleur, RD-7700-GS or equivalent. My fat ass decided to go with a shiny new 12-27T cogset, and my "SS" derailleur runs out of reach at 26T. Oops. I know somebody has a pile of 9-speed stuff just rusting away, so give me a shout if you've got one and I'll fork over some crisp new euros that you can show your boss and convince her that your new part desires are paying for themselves.

I have Deore LX rear derailleur (8sp), from what I understand you can swap the pullies and it will work for a 9sp. Let me know if your interested and I'll bring it tonight...

Are you sure it won't work? I used a short cage Dura Ace 7700 for a lot of years before switching to campy. As long as you keep the chain on the shorter side and NEVER crosschain on the large chainring, you should be fine. I rode a 12-27 a lot with that combo in New Mexico. It might say in the documentation you can't do it, but if you get the b-screw set right and the chain length right...no problems.

With the B-tension all the way in, the jockey pulley is still meshing with the large cog by a mil or two. I'll pop two links out and see if that does it. It shifts, but the last thing I want when I'm suffering a hill in the granniest of the grannies is a grinding sound in my drivetrain. Head games, you know. I could cheat and try a 12T pulley, I think I have a pair on hand.
