I hope to be there for the Tuesday evening ride, but I might not make it. I will have to get there from my apartment in Landstuhl after riding home from Kleber. I'm not sure I have enough juice for a 30-35 mile ride after commuting.

Re: Tuesday Road Ride
Was planning to make it to the ride today, but my sinus cold that just wont go away says otherwise. Have a good ride.
Brian, it was good to meet you, have fun in the Springs, I sure did. If you get there and have any questions on whats what just shoot me a message.
Couple of events I recommend you put on your radar:
-Pikes Peak Half or Full marathon in Aug., you have to sign up in March or April. They also have a road bike race to the top in Aug.
-Ride up Mt. Evans, all road, up to 14,103' from Idaho Springs to the top of Mt. Evans about 7000' of climbing over 28miles. You can ride it on your own or there is a road race I think in July.
-Ride the Rockies, awesome 6 day road ride/tour through out CO, the course changes every year, but you generally go over a high pass each day, really well orchestrated ride. It's in June, so it's a great way to kick off your cycle season. You have to put in for the lotto in Feb. If you don't get in take a look at The Tour of Colorado.
-Tripple-by-pass road ride, one day, 3-passes, 123miles, 11,000' elevation gain. If your really in for a challenge they just started the double triple last year, ride one way on sat. and back on sun. Double all the stats.
-Copper triangle ride, this is put on by Colorado Cyclists in Aug. Loop ride starting and ending at Copper Mt. ski area. It's about 80miles with 3 passes.
-Bon Tons is my favorite breakfast joint, it's in Old Colorado City on CO ave. Close to down town springs. Get one of their skillets w/ a biscuit. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Lot's of good recreation around to hit before a great breakfast.
Enjoy!

Re: Tuesday Road Ride
Planning on a RR from Ramstein SS gym at 1730. Like to get rolling early so return to the fam isn't as late. Let me know if you're interested, and if 1730 would be prohibitively early. Plan for 35mi w/ some climbing.

Re: Tuesday Road Ride
I should be able to be there. I will pitch the idea to my boss as "Base cycling team practice", which it is, right? I also invited a Spang buddy of mine, Mark.
Re: Tuesday Road Ride
The weather looks like another legitimate week of Summer. We should get in as much riding as possible, who else is in?
Re: Tuesday Road Ride
I'll be there. 1730 will be close, but I should be ok. I'm not sure if "Base cycling team practice" will fly with my boss, but it's worth a shot.

Re: Tuesday Road Ride
Mark and I will definately be there. 1730 Ramstein South Side Fitness Center. Were you thinking the same route to the Schneewiederhof, or did you want me to throw a different route together including the Potzberg...or both?
Here's a 35 mile course with both big climbs. Let's plan on this one, then adjust depending to the group.

Re: Tuesday Road Ride
Looks like it will be a good group. Now all we have to do is decidewhether to do the big climbs the hard way, or the...less hard way?
Re: Tuesday Road Ride
Definitely the hard way.

Re: Tuesday Road Ride
Don't know how the fast group fared after the split up in kollweiler, but the slow group (with which I STILL had difficulty!) headed over to Kusel, then back down to ramstein.
It was a fun ride, but ran me into the ground.
Some things I learned as a still new road-rider:
- trying to catch back up to the group sux a HECK of a lot more than putting in whatever extra effort it takes to keep on that rear wheel in front of you...
- when roadies say 'slow' that's not really what they mean... It's really more like 'not AS insanely fast.'
- being able to do 80-90km at a 16-17 mph pace does not prepare you to spend even 15km at a 20mph+ pace!
In any case, Gritz and Toto, thanx for hanging back a little for me it was a fun ride... Chad, MJ, et all... Maybe next time...
