Re: The Sunday Stew Ride

Post by Sharpbike on Sun Dec 19, 2010 11:33 am

I would have loved to ride this morning but to much snow and I got up late.

Now I have to shovel my long driveway so that I can get the cars out. Both vehicles where rubbing the centers so now I need to get it cleared before I am not able to get out. Its only about 150 yards long.

Did anybody ride?

Anybody want to help?

Oh Jim,

You missed an epic one. You escaped this time, but the German winter shows no mercy and there will be plenty more. We even had a first timer complete the loop plus some. Don't worry though, you will be wrote about in the report! Wink

Eric,

I would have loved to ride. I was not able to drive out of my driveway. It took my three hours to clean 3/4 of my driveway just so I could get out . Then I was so tired from all that shoveling that I just stayed home pale . You should have stopped in and said he let ride, since You passed by my house lol! .

We did make some effort to make sure we weren't leaving you behind. We had to ride the road from Queiedersbach to G'woog, so we went down to the saw blade to see if you were waiting there. Then we paused for at least half a second as we passed your street...to make sure you weren't stuck in your driveway on the bike Wink But you did miss an epic one...I was even more wrecked than last time! Don't know if you all are doing one on 2 Jan, but I will be heading back from Austria that day, so have fun!

Edit: Check out the photos on Facebook...pretty awesome day.

For anyone interested in a little motivation and training through the winter, I will be starting a biweekly ride this Sunday, leaving from my house in Bann, at 9:00. It's a road ride and will be a steady pace of about 17 m.p.h. There will be 3 KOM and 2 Sprint zones. The ride is right at 45 miles and should take about 2.5 - 3 hours to complete. This ride is aimed at serious recreational riders and racers looking for winter training. The plan is for a group which can maintain a consistent pace with accelerations on the climbs and sprints. After the ride there will be beef stew served over egg noodles and drinks for anyone who gives me a heads up that they want food, so plan on pitching in a couple of bucks to cover eats. Chad was kind enough to record a GPS map of the route and elevation profile linked below. Send me a message for my address.

Ring in the New Year with the Stew Ride. We will see what the weather is like and make a decision on type of bike Sat. afternoon/evening.

Well, it is that time. It has been snowing lightly here on and off all day and it is sticking now. I don't know what it is like elsewhere, but going off of here it might be cross or mtb bike weather again. Let me know what you think.

Hope the ride went well, and I'll be interested to read the report of the first Sunday Stew Ride that I've missed. Skiing all week in Austria wrecked my quads, so I'll have to give 'em a little break. See you all out there soon!

Had a great Cross bike Stew ride. Just at 3 hours because of the short cut that was like riding on a washboard with ice and after the second rated climb was still not plowed and full of ice, this slowed the pace. The sun even made a showing. Now if we can just get Krocko1 to make it out.

Legs where spent after missing the last stew ride so that I could sleep in witht he critters.

Looking forward to this weeks Report.

No more snow!!! Looks like the road bikes can come back out and the sun might make an appearance as well. Give me a heads up if you plan to eat.
