Want:

63-65cm road frame with or w/o components.

I really am interested in picking up road riding but I just can't get myself to spend a ton of money on something I may not like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that's a big frame! Check out Nashbar, they have some Ridley frames for around the $300 mark. Look at the size chart, they are a fit larger than you think.

Have: 47cm Kona Queen Ann scandium cross frame/carbon fork with mixed components, ridden very, very little by my wife. She has given permission for me to find it a new home.

I would venture to guess it would fit anyone 4'10" to 5' 3", it is not entirely complete, mainly lacking a wheelset, but I could probably find one in the garage to go with it. It has like new 105 shifters, Ultegra rear derailleur that has seen better days, like new Ritchey crankset (165mm), and other mixed components like a felt carbon seatpost.

If you are interested I can send some pics.

Have: 54cm Ciocc road bike with super cool Campy 40 spoke wheels. I even have a spare rear wheel that has never been used and a total of three freewheels with different ratios. I bought this for my girlfriend, but she does not appreciate how cool it is. It's too small for me and I've thought about parting it out, but someone should be riding this thing! Fenders, racks, puncture proof tires and loads of class!.

Niner Carbon Fork - Green

Post by MJ on Thu Aug 16, 2012 8:01 am

Anyone need a rigid Niner fork? It's green, non-tapered 1 1/8" head tube. I sent my green frame back, and think the color will be a little loud on a white frame. I would be willing to trade for an identical fork, or something comparable. The fork has about 80 km on it, looks new.

Re: Swap-Meet Thread

Post by MJ on Thu Aug 16, 2012 9:36 am

My eyes were welling up a bit as I handed it over to the postman. It was a rocket ship, but I’m not sure NASA would of bought off on the EBB design. I was worried I might be mobbed by frosch on the trail during their annual migration. I have a Spot frame inbound from CO. Belt drive. If it’s not here in time, the Pug will be on deck for Garmisch!

No Justin, I didn’t think I would be able to get you to swap, but I had to lob that out there. The Kermit might get a makeover. Cow spots…

Are you going single or internal multi-speed? Very jealous for either. No

you're definitely going to earn the "most popular bike" award at garmisch with either the pug or a belt drive SS.

I'm going to stick with the SS for now, and will be saving my pennies for a Rohloff. It's not a Moots ... but I think it will serve me well.

Anyone have any tips for painting carbon fiber?

Clear Krylon. Done.

Seriously though...getting the old finish off is the only challenge. Sanding is your only choice as chemical strippers will do unkind things to the carbon. As for paint, as long as it isn't powder coat, you should be fine.
