Not sure that I agree with it. We don't have all the information about it. Just what we read from the reporters. Sure took them long enough to end it. He can start racing again in AUG. Not much of a Ban except that they took all his results from the races that he did from the point of the test.

The ban is a complete joke. He never quit racing. His racing fitness won't take the hit the ban is supposed to enforce. Six months off the bike without competitive racing hurts nowhere near what two years would. That is the reason it took two 18 months to decide. Impact his racing career as little as possible, but still enforce the full punishment to make the anti-doping community happy.

Maybe I'm over-simplifying this because I don't tend to follow organized sports, but why not simply permanently ban from the sport anyone who comes up hot for doping?
If you are in the military and get caught using illegal substances, you can get kicked out.
If you are employed by an organization that requires drug testing and come up positive for illegal substances you can lose your job.
If you are caught by the police using illegal substances, you go to jail (usually).
Why not for cycling?

Yeah, well, I guess I know the why... I just think it stinks.... sports in general would be cleaned up a lot, and might actually interest me more, if they would have some harder faster rules that weren't all aimed ONLY at making it more lucrative for everyone directly involved... except the FAN that is....BrianLask wrote:Jonesy wrote:Why not for cycling?

They should just stop wasting money on trying to tarnish Lance!
I personally don't think they will ever find him guilty.

It's really quite simply, he was accused (by some less-than-reputable people BTW), he denied it and has not been proven guilty... in our Justice System, that makes him: innocent!

Glad recreational riding is worry free...job security not hinging on wins. Must be a difficult choice for those riding to put food on the table and a roof over their head. Competition will always push athletes to utilize any means to become the best. Alberto has been amazing to watch, as Lance, Floyd and all the others caught up in the mess.
