Hill Climb Time Trial Empty Hill Climb Time Trial

Post by cllulei Thu Apr 11, 2013 3:28 pm

Would anyone out there be interested in participating in a friendly bi-weekly or monthly hill climb time trial series? The venue would naturally be the Potzberg since it's the biggest hill around, it's so close, and the elevation difference from the bottom to the top is about 340 m, or 1100+ ft. The options would be the shorter (4.4 km), but steeper North side from Muhlbach; or the longer (8.8 km), more gradual South side ascent from Gimsbach. Any bike could compete. I'm looking at either doing it on a Saturday morning or on a Wednesday evening instead of the weekly road ride. Suggestions are welcome. Post up if interested. If there is enough interest, I'll set this up.

Ouch. The only thing worse I can imagine than climbing that is having to do it in a hurry!

Funny you bring this up, Chris. I had considered suggesting this, but changed my mind after last week's solo ride with the north side of Potzberg. That mother is steep, but would be the side to do. Sign me up!

Maybe we should do it in conjunction with the Wednesday evening ride. We could use the ride from RAB to the start as a warm up, do the timed hill climb, then head out for the rest of the ride. Thoughts?

My favorite climb. I like the idea of combining with the normally scheduled ride, and maybe every other week? The grand finale could be up one side then down and up the other. I volunteer to run the clock for that one. Very Happy

Sounds good...i'm in. We could just collect everyone at the bottom during the regular Wed night ride, then record our own times to the top. It wouldn't interrupt the regular ride, and we wouldn't need a timer.
