Anyone going to be in Paris on Sunday?
I'm in the states but my wife wants to go to Paris for the tour finish. Anyone going to be there that I can have her meet up with?

Paris looked spectacular as always. You really need to camp one of the mountain stages next year Jim. As I suffered up Alpe d'Huez this year on the bike, I could only think how much you would have actually enjoyed the climb. I did not, but am glad and proud that I did it. I was picturing you and Chad with a grin on your faces as you passed the hundreds of guys like me suffering up.

I go every year to the mountain stages just so I can ride them and see how awesome of atheletes they guys are. Not sure you would want to suffer up the climbs with my slow pace.
The Mark Renshaw sig is epic. He may not win stages, but without him Cavendish would have many less stage wins. I believe the real world calls him an enabler.

Re: Anyone going to be in Paris on Sunday?
Sounds like a good time was had by all at the TDF this year. My uncle and I were in the Alps for a week and had a great experience. I rode some great climbs: Mongenevre, Sestriere, d'Izoard, Latarat, Granon, Alpe d' Huez. They shut down the Galibier to bikes WAY too early, so I got turned back at the top of Latarat...but still got some great riding in. Alpe d' Huez was a sight to behold. Dutch Corner was insane...a "must see." I may be planning a trip to one of the other grand tours next year...maybe the Olympic RR/TT as well. Gotta get my fix while I'm here!

I am going to guess your time on Alpe d'Huez was around an hour.

Don't really know about the time. I had to stop twice to peel clothes. That was the only climb I did with sweat pouring into my eyes. It was warm on the way up, then cooled off pretty significantly on top. I actually rode up past town and went up as high as I could on the mountain before it turned back down toward Col de la Croix de Fer. I'll post my pic from the restaurant on top...pretty awesome.

Re: Anyone going to be in Paris on Sunday?
We rode it Saturday morning at around 1100. There was bumper to bumper RV's for the first four miles. Nothing like breathing diesel exhaust for the first half of the climb. I distinctly remember turning a corner and getting a fresh breath of clean air once we were at turn 10 or so.

She did go but never saw you guys. She had fun though so all is good. In week 3 of my mountain bike road trip, rode in Oregon, Washington, and now finishing up a week in Whistler. I am sore and spent but it's been sweet. Think this is going to be an annual event for me, I'll keep you all posted for next year. Maybe some of you California guys can make the trip up!
