Medical Certificate
I know we have some Doc's here on the forum, so I thought this may be a good place to ask. I've run into a situation. I am riding Les Trois Ballons in the Alsace this weekend, and have to complete a medical certificate for the race. Called this morning to make an appointment thinking it was just a few questions by a doc to make sure I was good to go and then obtain a signature, but it sounds the base office considers these to be PHA worthy. Do I need to do the full PHA (next appt is late June = miss race)? Centuries have been my regular ride for weeks now...

Re: Medical Certificate
This doesn't sound like a PHA type appointment. It is a routine physical for clearance to engage in physical activity. France is one of the few countries that requires this. I would walk-in to fill an acute appointment slot. Medical clinics usually have a handful of appointments they leave open daily for acute matters. You don't have an acute illness, but the clinic has to fill those appointment slots or they get dinged. Call the clinic or walk in early in the morning, between 0700 and 0800, they should be able to get you in. If they don't do it that day, keep going back. Good luck.

Re: Medical Certificate
My boss did the Paris Marathon this year and I asked him because I knew he had to get one. He said it was a form he downloaded and took it to his PCM. The doc reviewed his record real quick and signed the form.
