Yeah, G- I'll be leaving from Landstuhl. We can carpool if you want. I'm planning on being back reasonably early so I can get a few things done myself.

Re: Wasgau Mountainbike Marathon
I wanted to get a "roll call" for who's attending, so that we can bunch up and show off the black, red, and white.
Number pickup starts at 0700, and start is 0830 for the non-kiddie distances. It seems you can choose 60-80-105 km "on the fly" once you make the start window, so the trail will be choose-your-own-adventure. The 45k is for kids, costs 10 EUR to enter, and starts at 1000. That means peer pressure to ride the 60 or 80k for those who pre-registered.
So, I'm planning to be at the start point (SV Lemberg e.V., Laubbrunnerstraße, 66969 Lemberg) by 0730 and will be wearing KMCC kit.
The weather is supposed to be perfectly clear and cool!

Wow, what a ride! I had a great time suffering with you guys. It was cool that we were able to meet up at points and share the course. Now I need to go lick my wounds. Humbling ride, that's for sure.

Re: Wasgau Mountainbike Marathon
This ride really brought the pain, started cramping at the 27 Km mark and had to fight through it for the remaining 28 Km's and this was the short route. I ended up with over 1600 meters of vert...I'm going to pay for this in the morning...

Re: Wasgau Mountainbike Marathon
Im pretty sure that was one of the most demoralizing rides I have ever been on.
I was passed by many small girls under the age of 15 on the climbs. Over and over again.
To top it off, the kids in the town that said we had 1k left. When in reality we had 8-10k.
Fun isnt the first word that comes to mind, but it was a good time for sure!
Mark, where are the pictures!

Re: Wasgau Mountainbike Marathon
Brethren,
I am feeling a little stiff, but very happy and accomplished. Here is why: The first event of the season for me was at Trier. The event consisted of a 2.5K run, 12.5K bike and then a 2.5K run again. At that time i was so destroyed that I thought I should quit mountain biking and go back to recliner surfing, but I stuck it out. The Wasgau marathon was a monstrous test of my stamina not to mention a validation of how much I have improved in a relatively short time. I was not feeling too bad at the 60K mark and the swig of Radler beer helped out a lot. Some of the technical riding that some of riders were balking at seemed like just a three stair case descent. Now, I have to admit that this event has caused me to rethink my crazy idea of participating in the 2012 TRANSALP. More to follow on this…

Re: Wasgau Mountainbike Marathon
I must say it was a hell of a ride. There was some very nice sections of single track on this and I am looking forward to riding it again without 600 other riders on the trail. I was very beat down yesterday after the ride, but I still got out and road 30km today. Thanks everybody who came out .
