Hi. I found ya'll via a truck with kmccycling.com on it. I have a mountain bike and ride a combo of road/marked trails (mainly Glan Blies Radweg) from Ramstein to Waldmor, Nandiechweiler, Steinwenden and up toward Potzberg and Kusel. Would love some company to ride with - mostly on weekends and someone to show me the ropes of real MTP riding.

That sticker on my truck just paid for itself twice over!!!

Welcome to kmc cycling! Nice bike trails out toward kusel and anywhere north of ramstein.
As to the MTBing please come out and join the tue and thurs rides. See the website for directions and check the forum to make sure exactly when folks are meeting up.

My little old smart car isn't equipped to haul my bike, so I have to plan accordingly for rides. Do any groups leave out of Ramstein regularly? We moved on base in Nov and it's added 10 mi to my old routes - good for getting my butt in shape but not so good for getting to some of the good hills with good legs left under me...

Most of the group rides will start south of A6, so starting from there would post the same problem you have with your commute. There are some great trails right by the entrance gate to the hostipal though. That is where the tuesday ride ends up. We start at the castle and wind our way around. Great little ride.

Actually getting from ramstein to south of A6 isn't tough at all once you know the right routes. Dan described the west gate route. On the east side if you exit the mover's entrance there's a path that can have you from on base over to einsiedlerhof inside of ten minutes, fifteen if you're taking it easy; without riding anything more intimidating than neighborhood roads for a couple hundred meters.
I'll try to post a google of it when I can.
