Ride to Heidelberg Empty Ride to Heidelberg

Post by Jonesy Tue Mar 15, 2011 9:20 pm

In an effort to work in some higher mileage rides, I plan on riding to Heidelberg Friday.
I still have to work out the route but I think it will be roughly 120 km or so.
I plan on leaving quite early in the morning (between 5 and 6 a.m.)
I plan to be in Hd by lunchtime to eat at the house of 102 types of schnitzel then ride the train back to Landstuhl.

Anybody interested?

Jim, sorry Monday's no good.... I have to do some student teaching/onservation.

OK, so the route will go from LAndstuhl through Ktown to hochspeyer, frankenstein etc. to NEustadt. Then from Neustadt across the farmland there to speyer through a small town called otterstadt, across the rhein on a ferry, through scwetzingen, to heidelberg. I'm planning on taking a moderate pace of 20 kph, and I'm really not sure exactly when I'll get there.

I'm taking my commuter/touring bike, so I'll be taking mostly bike paths, forrest roads and the occasional stretch of road riding.

I plan for a liesurely (and high-calorie) lunch at the Scnitzel house with 102 varies of schnitzel (but only one variety of side dishes... pommes und salat!). Then it'll be a sleepy train ride back to Landstuhl sometime in the afternoon.
