Garmin 310XT and speed/cadence sensor

All,
I have a Garmin 310 paired with a speed/cadence sensor on my road bike. Problem is, I can't seem to get accurate readouts for the cadence sensor. I am getting readings like 145 - 175 rpm for entire sessions. I am using the bike on the trainer. Do you think that has something to do with it? If anyone has experience or knows what might be the problem, any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

If it is a mag trainer, you are likely getting feedback from the big ass magnet 18" away from the sensor. Pretty common problem with mag trainers and cadence sensors.

I didn't think of that. I have an Elite Crono Hydromag, so it is fluid/ magnetic. I've been racking my brain trying to figure it out, looking online, etc. I will have to make a chart for my actual cadence vs. cadence readout, so that the cadence information will be useful. The feedback is consistent, just not accurate. Thanks!
