Early Sunday Road rides

Post by iamgoode on Thu Oct 23, 2014 8:27 pm

All

Looking for people interested in riding road Sunday mornings at 0800. No hammer fest, 15-17 mph for now with a few medium effort climbs.

Holler if you are interested.

Rob, we've been riding at 0800 leaving from the intersection of California and Illinois on base. We're heading out the front gate and riding the hills over near Landsuhl. It's been just 2, but this week might be 4 riders but on a mix of cross and road bikes.

Rob, Weilerbach, but able to get to wherever. Would Sat or Sun work best? I just need to be up to Weselberg prior to 1300 to pick up a bike tomorrow.

How about tomorrow morning, 0700, church in Steinwenden. I have a very nice 43 or so mile ride with three or four nice climbs and 3500-4000 feet vertical. We will finish with plenty of time for you to make it out to see Frank.

If anyone else wants to join feel free.

Rob, sounds good. I'll likely just ride from Weilerbach as a good warm-up. See you then. I'll be on a Blue/Black Trek. Justin

Great. There will be at least three of us, possibly a few more. I'll be on a black Canyon and the other rider on a black Specialized. We will roll out of Steinwenden shortly after 0700. I look forward to meeting and riding.

We rode a 45 miler this morning and will ride again tomorrow. We meet at the church on the Main Street in Steinwenden. We are meeting at 0700 and departing shortly thereafter. Tomorrow's route is going out to Waldmohr and up a 600 foot climb followed by a great descent.

Church location: Moorstra├če 48, 66879 Steinwenden,

All,

I will be TDY for the next two weekends. If anyone wants to ride Saturday or Sunday during that timeframe, please arrange starting location/time and post in this thread.

See you all on the weekend of the 20th (unless I go ride Selloranda bike day in Italy on the 21st).

I am up for a Saturday ride, let me know if you guys want to set up something. I normally ride south of the base, but could go somewhere else if you know the way.

Would love early Sunday rides

I just arrived in Ramstein and I would love early Sunday rides...I am a morning person so prefer early. Less traffic I would imagine...

Tracy,

I just returned from TDY and will try to set something up for this weekend. The weekend rides are usually pretty spirited and involve a lot of climbs.

I plan to make this saturday's ride, (if not storming) if you drop me I'll find my way home... Or maybe we'll break into 2 groups. If you have a route already in mind let me know I'll try to print a map in the event I find myself riding alone.

Two of the three regulars are out of town, and I have to drop my son off at 0700 for a Jr ROTC leadership camp so I am out too. Let's plan on next weekend. If you have a route you would like to do let me know. We regularly do pretty hilly rides.

Got ya. I spend more time on the MTB or cross than road so I haven't explored too many road routes. Last fall the standard route was a figure 8 loop from base up the Landstuhl hill over to Hopstuhl then back up the Landstuhl hill then over to Landstuhl Village and back. When that got easy enough we added a climb to the caslte on the winding road... Probably nowhere near 3k feet of climbing.
