2014 Downhill Trip Planning Thread

Post by Taz77 on Mon Apr 14, 2014 11:09 am

Wanted to start a permanent thread on planning trips to bike parks for 2014. All are welcome even if you have never rode downhill before and want to try it out, I would always be willing to give beginner lessons for anyone. I don't have an extra bike but I do have some extra protective gear.

These are some of the big parks I want to visit this year.

This is a great website and there are a lot of listings for Germany that I never heard of:

I've been there several times.
Not bad for this area but also nothing special if you are used to the real "mountains"...

I could be up for May 1st (if is open...)

Had a lot of setbacks and personal stuff come up, but getting back to thinking about this now. I been doing some riding on the DH bike behind my village, long push to the top but some non-technical stupid fast runs back into the village.

What I could find online shows that all the trails are open at Champery come 28 June. Vallnord was about the same. I think Leogang is already open in Austria

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and kind of to this area for biking. I'm looking for a bit of a mix of riding w/ some DH. I'm interested in some local stuff at the time.
The ride you mentioned above this thread, in your village sounds good if your interested in letting me tag along.

Sure! It's a lot of pushing but some brake-burning fun down. Where are you located?

I just noticed a few minutes ago that my shock is leaking oil. I need to talk to fox again tomorrow to see when they can repair it. They fixed a faulty value last week so it will be quick. I am however doing a day ride with friend in gelterswoog if you're interested.
Not sure how to pm on this site so here's my number.

Shock is done. When, where, and hoe long you think. Probably better if you call though.

Not sure yet. I may not be here July 4th, might be in Bavaria. Just have to play it by here, also my village has their Summer festival on the 4th weekend and it's a pretty good festival - this year they have beer keg contests.

Rode this place yesterday. I will go back and soon I hope. It's out in the boonies of Czech Republic but the trails are really nice with a great mix of trails. I found it really good place since I haven't been riding in almost 2 years. I'm lacking in nerves/balls to hit the bigger stuff.

The lift is a 4 chair non-detachable - newer equipment but slow. You have a lot of time to rest between runs. But with the overall cheap cost of Czech you cannot complain. One day lift ticket is 500 Kr (~$24), VERY cheap by US standards! Parking is 50 Kr. Free bike wash. Full rental shop. Three pubs on site with food and Czech beer (of course!) - one at the top of the lift. Free wifi in the lodge for the significant other that isn't riding.

Tirol Bike Park

Post by Taz77 on Tue Sep 02, 2014 7:35 pm

Rode Tirol bike park this past weekend.  Not bad place.  The trails are long but there are only two of them.  It's really good mostly natural DH, actually no drops and just a few jumps.

Few pics... Including the resident horses that live and walk around on a portion of the trails.
