Re: Ritchey frame
I have a Surly Crosscheck with S&S couplers on it. I looked hard at the break away but ended up going with the Surly for it's diversity and the couplers. The Ritchey design has not changed for years, which means it works. You have to be careful with the torque on the Ritchey, if you strip them on a trip it could be the end. Also the Ritchey bag is slightly over the airline measurements, marginal but enough that a picky airline worker may charge.
You are more than welcome to check out my frame if you want.

Thanks for the info. I bought the 2011 Ritchey BAB CX...can't wait to get it. The bag can be modified and "cinched" down to meet snoby airline folk criteria. I hope to do RAGBRI next year so I will take a few extra 5mm bolts!

Re: Ritchey frame
Are you going to try and ride on the AF RAGBRAI team? I did it with them the first year they had a team....it was fantastic; really good fun!

Re: Ritchey frame
I did RAGRAII in 2005 also with the Air Force team. Again in 2006 without with friends. I can say it is much more fun without the Air Force. I ride for fun and they just about took all the fun out of it with rules. No drinking and having to hand out stickers/pencils wasn't worth getting permissive TDY. It is meant to be a party, and the Air Force made it feel like an awkward office party instead of a festival. I had a really hard time taking orders from folks who I wouldn't want to ride behind trying to ride in pacelines/echelons with use their rank to tell me what to do on a bike. Take the leave and do it with friends and you can enjoy it the way it was meant to be.

Re: Ritchey frame
Like I said I did it the first year and there really weren't any rules. One day we all got together at the start to ride for a little bit with the secretary of the Air Force but other than that we were pretty well on our own....except we got special treatment in the sleep-over towns. I'm sure somebody did something along the way to spoil it for everyone.

Ya, I heard that too. No, I plan on doing it with some friends and just enjoying it. Anybody want to join me? Unfortunantly I can't do it this year, but next year is on my long term calendar.
