European racing experience
Anyone here have experience on how you can participate in races around Europe (non-military races).
I'm very interested in getting back to racing like I once did. I'm mainly only interested in Downhill races. My last license I had was in 2009 for USA Cycling. I am wondering if I will have to go through the pain (and expense) of getting a UCI license.

Re: European racing experience
I looked for the Thread with info on this topic but couldn't find it. If I remember correctly in order to participate in the majority of the races here in Europe (collect points) you have have a license (not sure the type) and to get this license you have to belong to a "Germann Cycling Club", a couple that come to mind is Wheelsports and Queidersbach. The only member I know of who has/had a license is Sharpbike, maybe someone who has more knowledge of this topic can provide better details...

Re: European racing experience
I got to reading USA Cycling's web page yesterday too. Most of the races I would go to would probably take a UCI license. The annoying part would be the "Foreign Permission Letter" I would need to get before every race. I've got to reach out to some of my USA Cycling contacts and see what the deal would be. I know USA Cycling will also give a license to a legal alien in the US to race too, maybe they do the same thing here. I need to find out what the governing body of cycling is for German that's designated by UCI, maybe they do the same thing USA Cycling does and I could get my license through them.Zenkem wrote:I looked for the Thread with info on this topic but couldn't find it. More than likely most of the races I would go to would not be in Germany, maybe a few as I do know they have a German DH series.
Re: European racing experience
new DH/FR race series in NRW (Nordrhein-Westfalen). 4-6 races are planned. There will be a license and hobby class.
