MTB Ride Tomorrow Late Notice

Post by gsmolin on Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:51 pm

All,
I'm off tomorrow and I'm going here to ride the 40km loop: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Apparently its a course with a lot of singletrack. Worth exploring.

Also, the Ottweiler bike park is open and in the area, so I'm checking that out as well.

Only thing I have to do is drop off the boy at kindergarten around 8 or 830 and I'm free until 3:30.

I'm looking to start in the AM soon after the kindergarten drop-off mission and ride for most of the day.

George

I rode the pur trail last summer. Not a bad trail. Havent been to the Ottweiler flowtrail yet. Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow. Enjoy. I am putting a trip to Stromberg together for the 23rd. You should join us.

St Ingbert Pur Trail Review:
First, I only made it to St Ingbert and got tired. Ottweiler maybe tomorrow.
For the trail, I started at the Southwest entry point right off of the St Ingbert West autobahn exit. You have to ride through the city a bit to get to the trail, but less than 5 minutes.
The trail itself had several soul-crushing climbs on single and doubletrack, but bracket the fact that I'm out of shape when you interpret this.
The climbs were rewarded with several very long singletrack descents. Some were long and flowy but others were a bit shorter and pretty gnarly.
Rocks, roots, but not a lot of dropoffs. The gnarly ones were pretty steep, a bit more than that stretch at the Woog that drops you onto a forest road, then you cross the forest road and keep going down (where Kendall broke his wheel last year).
I ended up doing all the blue trail and part of the yellow trail.
Signage is pretty good and its tough to get lost.
Compared to Rodalben, its longer ups and longer downs, with a comparable amount of singletrack to a Woog ride.

Sounds like fun, do you have a Garmin profile for the ride...
