Uploading courses/routes to Garmin device
What is the trick to upload to the Garmin 800/810? I tried using Garmin Connect, but it doesn't seem to like any map I find except ones created by another Garmin 800. It gives me an error every time I try to upload a course. Do you upload a map straight to your device without using connect or training center?

Do you have enough memory??? I know I have to have an SD card installed in my 705 in order to upload maps...

I have 85 meg of empty space, and the map is 10.5k. I can still upload stuff from Garmin connect, but I can't get these maps to even upload to garmin connect to try transfering to the laptop.

Straight to the device to upload routes. Are the files you are trying to load in the right format? Edge only does tcx and gpx. for maps its a little more difficult. Do you have a micro sd slot? that would make it easier if you have the map on the micro sd card.

You can download Basecamp for free from Garmin:

I used a micro-sd card to install my topo map from garmin. I installed base camp to my laptop when I put the map I downloaded from garmin on the sd card. I will probably mess with it more. I can get the file to load to base camp, but didn't think of transferring it from there. They are all gpx files I am trying to load btw.
