Checking in
Surgery went well they kept me a second night because they found a pulmonary edema....whatever that is. They aren't sure if it happened yesterday or not. Lots of meds are helping. Good thing beer qualifies for a clear liquid diet.
Side note, my nurse today has ridden with us a couple times. She is an icu nurse working in the surgical ward for the weekend. She is registered on the forum, but doesn't remember her login. She has been amazing and taking great care of me.
Steve has pics from yesterday I told him he could post.

Nice. I love how the helmet is crooked! I forgot to add a huge thanks to Steve, Eric, and Matt for getting me straightened out. Someone did keep trying to give me a space blanket too. Odd that my last solid meal was one that I can sill eat banded shut. Should have had my last schnitzel in hind sight.

Ouch, dude. That's the kind of injury nobody wants to see. Heal well. Oh, I saw full-face helmets are on sale... If I can wear San Francisco bedroom slippers for mild XC, then I won't laugh at you for wearing a full-face... As long as it is not the leather type with the zippered mouth!

Back at the house. Things are OK. Got a big bottle of liquid magic at discharge today. How long can I make it last.

Good to hear. Hope you get well soon. That was a tough tumble and even though you managed to stay concious I believe I have been knocked of the throne for the worse KMC Cycling crash.

Wrong. I drove to the hospital and didn't require a space blanket!

Yeah, but Daniel was eating solid foods the next day... I'd say it's definitely a close contest!spookyload wrote:Wrong. I drove to the hospital and didn't require a space blanket!

OK. I'll give you that, but I did not have to stay in the hospital overnight. The space blanket looked way manlier than that floral print --or are they puppy paws-- robe you got to wear and I did not have to get a prostate exam neither.

Re: Checking in
Cast off today. I do have an arm under there. Go to the Dental clinic here at Davis Monthan for a referal off base in the morning to get the jaw unwired. Everyone here in Tucson has been more than helpful in the last stages of this treatment. They are even putting me in for an Invisilign orthodontic device to straighten up my teeth that were crooked before the mishap. Next stop is In and Out which is right down the street.

All the hardware came out of my mouth today! Gums are a bloody mess but it is liberating. Had a slice of pizza to celebrate. I see a big fat In n Out burger in my future.
